Here’s a little of what has happened in my 2011

As you may already know, I loved 2010. It was the year when I started working at Apple and having some fun. It was a crazy year, to the fullest extent of that word. It was great, seriously. Then, 2011 came along and I told 2011: “You better step it up if you want to catch up to 2010″. Well, 2011 was shaking on his (her?) boots.  The year started well, I loved every day of working at Apple, but well, it wasn’t paying the bill$.

An opportunity came along and on March, I moved on to work with the American Heart Association as a Web Content Administrator, it was a very interesting experience, learned a lot even though I was a little bored. Met some very good people there. As 2011 went on I cleaned up my act a bit, did I mention that 2010 was crazy? Yes, I did.

On a calm October morning I was thinking abou what was next for me. As I wondered what my next job would be (the AHA job was a 1 year contract), I said: ” What I would really love is a work on Entertainment”. That same day, a close friend sent me some info about a job opening at The Dallas Morning News. That. Same. Day. And the rest is history, I went through the interview process and I felt it, I knew I had to be there. I clicked with the interviewers, we talked about entertainment and I felt like a happy fish swimming in the ocean. Some other amazing things happened in the process and at the end of November I started working as the TV and Music Editor/Producer for The Dallas Morning News and GuideLive.com. I am still learning but it feels so great to work on what you love.

2011 has been crazy but in a different capacity. The high of my year was having my brother, Rafy, in Dallas for a month. I bet one of his highlights is that I took him to see Kid Cudi live. My highlight was every second of having him here in Dallas. I love that kid. You have no idea. It was hard when he left, it took me a few weeks to get used to not having him in my apartment. #sadface. But then, after him leaving I had to go to Puerto Rico because my Dad was having surgery. He is fighting Cancer and even though the numbers looked pretty scary he is doing a great turnaround. That was the hardest part of my year. My dad is single-handedly the most influential person in my life, he is my mentor, my guru, my go-to-when-things-get-scary guy. It’s scary to go through something like that, and I pray that God will let us enjoy each other for years to come. I’ve said this before, but one of the reasons I want to be a Dad is because I want to give what he has given me, pay it forward.

Wow, I haven’t posted a personal blog in a while. I wanted to spend my 30th Birthday out of the country, but that’s not happening and I am happy that the reason for it is because I have an awesome new job. So, keep up with me here and on twitter.

Be happy!
